Welcome from the PTA President

Happy Back-to-School, SBMS Parents!

A new school year is upon us! I hope each of you enjoyed time with your families this summer.  Welcome to our new families and it is good to see you to our returning families.  I am both honored and excited to be your PTA President this school year.  This is my third year at SBMS and I think this will be the best one yet with all the things happening on our campus.

Traditionally, our school year’s are not marked by themes, but I have been inspired differently this year.  With our first day of school on the rare event of a full solar eclipse and the many new unknowns of micro school and parallel school experiences, new teachers on campus, Title I funds providing math and reading specialists, new innovative learning experiences planned and so much more, I have heard the analogy how our campus is like NASA and space exploration.  Our campus will be full of innovation, new experiences and learning this school year.  We have our amazing SBMS staff and administration guiding us from mission control and all of our students as astronauts exploring and learning like never before.  We are truly on a MISSION TO GREATNESS this school year.  Grab your flight suit and let’s go!

The PTA will be trying out new fundraising ideas this year so be on the lookout.  We also are changing up some of our character education programs we provide our kids.  New this year, our General PTA Meetings are being held on Friday mornings just after drop off and our first meeting is actually in the evening just prior to Back To School Open House Night.  We are asking for volunteers in new areas like the Library and Lifeskills Program.  Even as a PTA, we are exploring new things as part of our MISSION TO GREATNESS.

SBMS PTA has started a Facebook page as another way of communicating.  We will still have e-blasts and weekly newsletters too.  You can always check out our website for current information and important calendar dates at sbmspta.com.  We want you to know what is happening and get involved!

I wish all of you a great start back to school and routines.  Godspeed!  GO BEARS!
